Antigua is a city in the highlands of Guatemala famed for its cobbles streets, Spanish Baroque architecture and ruined churches.

We were lucky enough to be here in the week running up to Easter. This was a fantastic time to visit as the town is alive with preparations for the big Easter Sunday parade, which means smaller parades almost every day.

The effort the locals go to for the parades is staggering especially the street carpets created out of colored sawdust, palm leaves, fruits and vegetables.

While staying in town we took a walking tour with a local historian, visited some museums, galleries, shops and markets.
