The Cardamom Hills are part of the Western Ghats range located near the borders of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The hills are covered in Tea and spice plantations.
We stopped at a small-scale spice plantation to take a tour and see how many of your everyday spices grow from Pepper to Cinnamon to Cardamom, Coca, Chilli and many more.
After the spices we also toured the Connemara Tea plantation factory to see the old 1940’s machinery transform the freshly picked leaves into powered tea. Powered tea is the primary way tea is consumed in India; they do not tend to use tea bags like we do back home.
