We decided to spend the afternoon learning about Coffee, Sugarcane and Chocolate production.
It was really interesting to see the coffee process from berry picking to cup. The people who hand pick the coffee berries get paid about $2 a basket. These berries are then processed by machine to get the bean out of the middle. The beans are left to dry out in green houses before being sorted by size and finally roasted with hot air.
We also had a go at making some chocolate and turning sugarcane into toffee.
One surprising highlight was randomly seeing a sloth in a tree as we toured the plantation. It is the first photo below, sadly he was all curled u so we could not get a good view of his face.
