The third day in the Inca Trail supposed to be easier than the second ……..they lied!

Again woke up at 5am, breakfast at 6am, and started trekking at 7am.

Key phrases used by our guide ‘Andean flat & rolling hills’ – again this was lies as it was mainly up hill followed by down hill – bring on the oxygen tanks. Once over two high passes it was essentially downhill all the way to Winay Wayna where we would camp for the 3rd night.

However despite all the moaning this was the most beautiful part of the trek, with jungle scenery and panoramic mountain/cloud forest views.

It was at this camp site I decided to try taking a shower… this was a mistake, the shower was powered by glacial runoff water… ice-cold.
