Puducherry is a coastal town with a French history that can been seen in the buildings of the old part of town.

Our bus stopped on the way to Puducherry to allow us time to explore a small-scale salt mine to see how salt is produced locally.

The French quarter, old town, of Puducherry is really nice to walk around and a stark contrast to some of the other places we have visited in India. It was nice to explore the churches, temples and narrow streets of colonial buildings and was great to see a grand promenade along the sea front. One of the only places we have been in India where you can just stroll along a sidewalk.
