The next stop on our tour was the Comunidad de San Clemente, not to be confused with the coastal town of the same name.
This San Clemente is located just outside the city of Ibarra and is a home-stay cooperative where you can spend time in a families home and get to learn the local culture and customs. We would be staying here 2 nights, plenty of time to get to know our hosts and get involved with their every day lives.
Activities included a walk through the forest learning about medicinal plants, plowing the fields, grinding our own corn flower, milking cows, feeding the Alpacas and learning about the Andean calendar.
We were also treated to a cultural evening of traditional music, singing and dancing!
