Day-trip to visit the UrosĀ floating islands.

The Uros are a pre-Incan people who live on self-fashioned floating islands in Lake Titicaca not far from the city of Puno.

The Uros use bundles of dried totora reeds to make the islands, boats, houses and pretty much anything they need.

Although an interesting place to visit and a strange way of life to behold, the visit to the Uros islands was somewhat disappointing. The islands and people have pretty much become a strange kind or tourist attraction and a lot of it felt oddly manufactured, it was the only place we visited in all of Peru, Bolivia and Chile that felt cheesy-fake-touristy and that was a bit of a shame.
