Day back in Cusco relaxing after the Inca trail. Breakfast at Jack’s and drinks in the evening at an Irish Pub!
7 hour coach ride to Puno on Lake Titicaca, bit of time exploring the town before going to dinner
Day spent on Lake Titicaca. First stop is a boat ride to Taquile island (after a race to the harbor in a Peruvian limousine – tuctuc pedal powered) where we had lunch and a walk around admiring the views.
Back on the boat and off to the Chucuito peninsula where we played a game of football with the locals before meeting up with our host families. Once introduced we dressed up like the locals and joined in some traditional dancing for the region.
Back to our host families house for dinner where we got to meet all the family and then to bed
We wake early for breakfast with our host family before saying goodbye and boarding our boat for a trip to the Uros floating islands.
At the islands we have a demonstration on how the islands are constructed, get shown inside a typical house and have a ride on a traditional boat made from reeds
After lunch we head back into Puno for sightseeing followed by Dinner
Day spent traveling to La Paz in Bolivia by coach, was quite an eventful journey; the coach blew a tyre on the highway which delayed us by over an hour. The other strange part of the journey was when we needed to cross lake Titicaca, we got of the coach so that it could be floated across the lake on a very small barge while we crossed by small boat.
We arrived in La Paz in the evening and went out for dinner at a very good Thai restaurant where we said good-bye to our tour guide Jose
I went Mountain biking down the world-famous death road while Eva hit the shops and markets with the girls.
The mountain biking was awesome but combined with the altitude it really took it out of me. Defiantly one of the best bike rides in the world. Starting altitude 4700m finishing altitude 1000m, 64km of extreme downhill!
In the evening a chance to meet our new tour guide for the next part of our journey to Santiago.
Relaxing day in South La Paz; we decided to escape the madness and head to a shopping mall at the more affluent end of town.
After buying a few things and enjoying the food court we headed back to meet up with our group for dinner, which was a good opportunity to get to know our 3 new members.
