Second day is all about lagoons and mountains as we continue to drive across the Bolivian desert.
Tonight’s hotel is the highest place we have spent a night on our South American journey (4500m)
Wake early at 4am to drive to the geysers. Temperature is a very cold -17
After visiting the hot springs we drive across the border into Chile and arrive at our destination San Pedro.
Afternoon spent relaxing in the sunshine before heading out for dinner and drinks
Morning spent recovering from last night’s drinking and dancing.
Afternoon tour to the valley of the moon, which involved some caves, some dunes and a great view-point to see the sunset.
Day spent relaxing and shopping in San Pedro before catching the night bus to La Serena
After checking into our hotel it is time for lunch and we head to a local sea food restaurant for some fried fish.
We spend the afternoon shopping and relaxing in the city, before hijacking the hostel kitchen to make Nachos!
5am start to watch the rugby world cup final and enjoy a champagne breakfast.
We then head off to the beach, Japanese gardens and local zoo (the zoo is very disappointing and you have to feel for the animals that are not kept in the best condition – we left pretty much straight away)
