Arrive in Hervey Bay and check into our cabin. Pop into town for supplies and for Eva to get her hair done.

Rest of the day spent just relaxing and getting ready for our trip to Fraser island.

Arrive on Fraser island at the Kingfisher Bay eco resort, after checking in we explore the resort beach and pools before having some dinner and attending a talk on creatures that live in the sand.

4×4 bus tour around Fraser island taking in the scenery. We got to check out the beach, Lake McKenzie, a shipwreck and the Pinnacles coloured sands.

We also took the optional scenic flight which was cool as we took off and landed on the beach and got to see some of Fraser’s most impressive dunes.

Final day on Fraser island, relaxing around the hotel pool, walking on the beach, trekking in the bush and relaxing.

Attended talks on the local dingo population and how Fraser island was formed and is constantly changing.

Catch the final ferry back to the mainland before getting a taxi to the bus stop for the 1.25AM bus… Joy.

Arrive in Byron Bay around lunchtime. After checking into our Mexican themed guesthouse we took a quick walk to the beach to see whats occurring.

Early-ish night as we did not really sleep too well on the night bus.

Christmas Eve

Day spent relaxing in Byron Bay checking out the towns shops and cafes

Out on the town in the evening for a few drinks and some live music

Christmas day

After catching the extremely early church service we head off to the beach to watch the local surfing. The tide is really far in and the waves massive, was pretty awesome watching the surfers with a growing crowd of spectators cheering on good moves.

In the afternoon we headed back to the beach for a picnic and to go body-boarding. I also got to play with my waboba ball
