Costa Rica to Nicaragua

Today we do one of Costa Rica’s premier adrenaline attractions and go Zip Lining. We go with a company that offered the longest zip line in latin america at over 1.5km. This was just one of 14 zips, one repel and a bungee tarzan swing. A really good day out, soo much fun, would recommend to everyone. In the afternoon we enjoy the town of Monteverde by stepping out to get some coffee and cake. Dinner was at a really nice Pizzeria.

Long journey day as we head for Ometepe island in Nicaragua. Boarder crossing was long and interesting in the heat of the day. We witnessed a fight at the boarder between two women who were competing for our business in helping us across the boarder…. the police eventually broke up the cat fight. When we finally got to Ometepe we met our host families and had a communal dinner and a whole bunch of rum before turning into bed.

The Lazy mans tour of Ometepe island saw us take in a few of the islands highlights from a walk around a lagoon, to swimming in a natural spring and relaxing at the beach… very nice.

We leave Ometepe and head by chicken bus to Granada. We arrive late afternoon and take a quick orientation walk of the town. In the evening we head out for dinner and drinks for St Patricks day.

Self guided tour of Granada taking in the sights of the town and finally finding a post office to send some more stuff home. This was the easiest post office experience we have had in all our time travelling… really helpful woman and a cheap price to send things home… lets just hope the box arrives in one piece.

Take a night walk up Telica Volcano to watch the sunset before heading to the creator to take a look inside…. and we saw lava. Truly awesome to see this.

After we get back from the hike we head to the Surfing Turtle beach lodge on Nicaragua’s Pacific coast for a couple of days relaxation.

Nothing to do but enjoy the beach. We hire a Boogie board for a few hours, walk the beach and do a little sunbathing before having drinks in the evening and staying out to look at the stars.
